REBULDING POWERPLANTS – ŽILINA – COMPETITION PROJECT
The revitalisation design for the "Power plant complex in Zilina" focuses on the functional and aesthetic integration of the former power plant complex into the city centre, given its strategic location. The main objective of the proposal is to humanise the space inside the city block by renovating and restoring the individual objects with regards to their historic value, linking the site to the local art gallery (Povazska galleria umenia) and the near Andrej Hlinka square as well as solving the parking on the site. An emphasis was also placed on creating new architectural objects such as the gate to the complex, an object reminiscing of the former steam power plant chimney, variable foldable ceilings on the square, a mixed-media wall, green terraces…
